It was a lesson my dad taught me this weekend actually.

We spent most of saturday together and i was bitching about work and my boss, and he said its just as shitty everywhere. He said that it’s very common for younger men to seek validation and self worth from their job, but no one there is going to give it to you because its not their job. He said you’ll drive yourself crazy if you look for it, and you’ll never be happy.

He told me: you have to be self-determinate in your happiness, to know you did the best you could do and be proud of that, and that this internal happiness will be more rewarding than any accolade anyone else can give you. The largest mountain a man can face is himself.
